Throughout the year, the Global Black Economic Forum held numerous curated conversations focused on advancing solutions to the most pressing economic and social issues facing marginalized communities.
In August 2024, as part of the Cooking Up Conversation series on Martha’s Vineyard which brings together key stakeholders in various industries, the Global Black Economic Forum partnered with National Medical Fellowships (NMF) to explore the critical link between healthcare inequities and economic outcomes. Michellene Davis, NMF’s unapologetic leader, highlighted the urgent need to diversify the healthcare workforce, especially as the U.S. faces a physician shortage in an increasingly diverse population.
The Global Black Economic Forum also partnered with the East Point Convention and Visitors Bureau to focus on leveraging the 2026 FIFA World Cup to boost local economies. Chantel Ross Francois, East Point’s tourism leader, shared strategies for Black entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs of color to capitalize on the global event through partnerships, visibility, and community pride. The World Cup represents a transformative opportunity to channel millions into Black communities and communities of color, emphasizing the need for businesses to prepare early for the opportunity.
